20 Steps to Perfect Gel Manicures with Faby

Gel nails are a true game-changer in the nail industry. Their popularity has continued to soar over the past few years and it’s not hard to see why. When compared to traditional nail varnish, gel polishes offer durable, chip-free and long-lasting manicures. However, achieving picture-perfect gel nails can be challenging and the unique properties of each nail brand can mean that a slightly different technique is required. So, we’ve put together a simple step-by-step guide to using Faby Lacquering Gels, to ensure a perfect application of gel colour every time.

Nail Preparation

Arguably the most important step in any manicure is the preparation of the nail bed.

1. Remove any nail residue using nail wipes and Faby Acetone Free Polish Remover.

2. Shorten and shape the natural nails using Faby Reduce File or Shorten 150/180 file.

3. Apply Faby Cuticles Remover on the cuticles and let it soften them for 30/60 seconds.

4. Use Faby Skill to remove any leftover dead tissue from the nail plate and walls. Make sure to use the sides of the tool, and not its point. If needed use Faby Cuticle Clipper to remove any stubborn cuticles or hang nails.

5. Gently buff the nail plate and the free edge with Faby Lux Buffer 1000/1400.

6. Brush the nail with Faby Prime, a PH prep agent. Ensure you seal the edge of each nail.

Application of Gel Colour

7. Get ready for the application of gel by rolling Faby Lacquering Base Coat, Top Coat and Lacquering Gel in the chosen colour between the palms of the hands.

8. Start with Faby Lacquering Base Coat: wipe off any excess product from the brush, then apply a thin layer starting from the centre of the nail close to the cuticle line. Working to the side walls, then seal the edge of the nail.

9. After applying Lacquering Base Coat  to all 5 nails, go back and make sure all the edges are properly covered by sealing them again.

10. Cure in the Faby Led Lamp for 60 seconds.

17. Apply a coat of Faby Lacquering Top Coat: wiper off any excess product from the brush, then apply a thin layer starting from the centre of the nail close to the cuticle line. Working to the lateral side walls, then seal the free edge.

18. After applying Lacquering Gel Top Coat to all 5 nails, go back and make sure all the free edges are properly covered by sealing them again.
